As Blackpool Illuminations light up the promenade, free firework displays on every Friday night during September light up the skies, along with some synchronised music. The firework displays are called World Championships as a different country takes part each week. This year I went along with a dear friend and her young teenage grandchildren to watch Canada's Orion Fireworks. Young people are such fun to have around. The Fireworks Display is extremely well organised and set on the cordoned off North Pier, well away from the general public. I loved the display and energy generated by the crowds. We went on Friday 13th September weather was good. The beginning of the full September super moon shone brightly.

The annual Kite Festival at St.Annes on Sea. Free to all, good healthy family day out. Great to see so many people out enjoying themselves. The festival was originally planned for a weekend in August but had to be cancelled due to very high winds! The irony was not lost on the organisers, who kindly rearranged to this beautiful weekend in September. Perfect weather. Colourful kites. Donkey rides reminding me of ones as a child on a different beach in Wales. Plants and mosaic in the town.
