I thought I would catch a photo of one of the dwarf Irises in the garden as they are nearly over with for another year. They remind me of when I lived in Lancashire. Irises were more plentiful in the garden, grown between lavender bushes; the colour glowed brightly, as the scent of lavender filled the air. That victorian house had stained glass panes with purple Irises at the top half of old sash windows. I also like the fact that the name Iris comes from a Greek word meaning "rainbow", because the petals are made up of so many different colours.
